Privacy Policy

How La Danse Royale collects, holds and uses personal information — for enquiries, for engagements, and for the dancers in our care.

01

Who we are

La Danse Royale is a private ballet atelier based in Tokyo, Japan. It operates ladanseroyale.com and is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

The Atelier, and not any individual within it, answers for the data described here. Questions about this policy, and any request concerning your own data, may be written to ldr.ladanseroyale@gmail.com. Our registered details and a postal address are given on request.

02

What we collect

Enquiries
Your name, email address, a telephone or messaging handle if you give one, your city or country, the programme you are enquiring about, and anything you choose to write to us.
Junior applications
In addition: the dancer's age, training history, current school or studio, competition and audition history, the name and contact details of a parent or guardian, and — where you send them — photographs or video of the dancer.
The House List
Your email address and your language preference.
Site analytics
Pages visited, an approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and the source that referred you. Where analytics are enabled they are provided by Google (Analytics and Tag Manager).
03

Why we hold it, and on what basis

We use enquiry data to reply to you, to consider an application, and to arrange lessons. We use House List data to send the seasonal letter, cohort announcements and playlists. We use analytics to understand which pages are useful and to keep the site secure.

Where the GDPR applies, our lawful bases are: the performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before one; consent, for the House List and for non-essential cookies; and legitimate interests, for site analytics and security. Where the APPI applies, we use personal information only within the purposes set out above, and not beyond them without your consent.

04

Photography and video

We do not photograph or film in the studio without asking first. Where an image or recording may be used publicly — on this site, on Instagram or YouTube, or in material given to a partner organisation — we ask separately and in writing, and for a dancer under 18 we ask a parent or guardian. Consent may be withdrawn at any time by writing to ldr.ladanseroyale@gmail.com, and we will remove the material from anything within our control.

05

Who else sees it

We share personal data only with service providers acting on our instructions: website hosting, form and email delivery, site analytics, and the service that sends the House List. The current list of providers is available on request. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Some of these providers are located outside Japan and outside the European Economic Area. Where the APPI applies, we make such a transfer with your consent and take the measures required of us; where the GDPR applies, we rely on the appropriate safeguards those providers offer.

06

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as the purpose it was given for requires.

Enquiries
An enquiry that does not proceed is kept no longer than two years.
Engagements
Records of a dancer admitted to a programme are kept for the engagement, and for a limited period afterwards where a record is required for accounts or safeguarding.
Junior material
Application material, including photographs and video, is kept for the application and any engagement that follows, and is deleted sooner on request.
The House List
Until you unsubscribe.
07

Your rights

You may ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it, or withdraw a consent you have given. Write to ldr.ladanseroyale@gmail.com; we reply within one month, and sooner where we can. If you are in the EEA or the United Kingdom you may complain to your supervisory authority; in Japan, to the Personal Information Protection Commission.

08

Children

We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 16 through this website. An application to a junior programme is made by a parent or guardian on the dancer's behalf. Our Safeguarding Policy applies to every engagement involving a minor.

09

Cookies

Essential cookies keep the site working and cannot be switched off. Analytics cookies are set only where you accept them. You may change that choice at any time by clearing the cookies and site data your browser holds for ladanseroyale.com, or by writing to us.
